Important Events you can be part of!:
Ongoing! - Starting March 5th on Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the season of Lent, we are joining the call from Black Church leaders to go to Target to protest their phasing out of DEI initiatives. As well, they have stopped selling LGBTQ+ merchandise for Pride month. Pastor Jamal Bryant, of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in metro Atlanta and a key leader of the Fast from Target initiative, emphasizes the significance of this participating in economic boycotts historically and today. "The Montgomery Boycott was about economic withdrawal" about understanding "the power of our dollars," he said. According to Bryant, Target -- whose corporate headquarters is in Minneapolis where George Floyd was murdered -- is where Black people spend $12 million daily. In 2021, Target pledged to invest $2 billion into Black businesses by the end of 2025. However, they have reversed course and are phasing out their DEI initiatives.
Other Corporations who have ended DEI initiatives and should be boycotted: Amazon, Tesla (along with anything from Musk!), Walmart, Google, Meta, Pepsi, Aldi, McDonald's, and Lowes. If you, for one reason or another cannot avoid dealing with one of these, find ways to REDUCE your dependence on them.
An inspirational John Lewis Quote for ALL our Rallies - "You are a light. You are the light. Never let anyone — any person or any force — dampen, dim or diminish your light … Release the need to hate, to harbor division, and the enticement of revenge. Release all bitterness. Hold only love, only peace in your heart, knowing that the battle of good to overcome evil is already won." - John Lewis in Across That Bridge: A Vision for Change and the Future of America
